Random Thoughts While Running.

Saturday, August 10, 2013

Now that my cross country has officially started, I spend at least 15 hours a week running.

I'm one of those runners that likes to talk the whole time I'm running. The whole time. Just emphasizing that.

After asking my friends what I tend to talk about, they told me 10 common quotes of mine during a run. Feel free to pretend to not know me anymore.

1. 'Tell my kids that they can't put an 'RIP Katherine' bumper sticker on their car when I die.'

Ecards Don't advertise my death on your car

Dear family and friends,
When I die I do not want you dedicating your car to me. Especially if the car is a dumpy one that barely runs. If I get anything dedicated to me it better be a Bugatti. Otherwise see the first sentence. Keep it classy.

2. 'How was I even motivated enough to leave my bed? Seriously. Why did I even leave my bed?'

Sometimes in the middle of the run I start wondering why I ever got out of bed. Beds don't require pants. Beds are nice. Aren't you jealous of how motivated I am?

3. 'What am I even talking about?'

.

At mile 4 or 5 I don't even realize what I'm talking about anymore. The words just keep coming nonstop. Oh, you don't want to know about my bunny? Woopsss.

4. 'I wouldn't mind being that baby for 5 minutes and taking a quick break and riding in the stroller.'

they see me rollin' they hatin'....

See #3. I swear I don't remember this quote. Buttttt, when you're tired and a mom walks by with a baby relaxed in it's stroller, jealousy sometimes takes over. I mean I can totally see where I was coming from.

5.  'I just saw one of my Mom's friends so I better wave even though she doesn't know who I am.'

This actually happened. Yepppp.

6. 'I'm really hungry right now. Like I really can't wait for breakfast. What should I have guys?'

I'm a blogger. Doesn't that mean foodie talk has to happen sometime?

7. 'Cars move for me when I run.'

swag.

8. 'Why can't people put their dogs on leashes once in a while? That dog has been chasing me since my second mile!'

always after something awkward happens...

Dogs can be cute, yeah I know, but if you're taking a leisurely walk and think it's fine to let your dog run with me, think again.

9. 'Am I just really tired and delusional or is that guy running hot? Oh wait, he's like 80.'

  1. Haha I wish I could run with you! I love talking when I run and I am always random!
15 hours?? Seriously?? How many miles does that equal? I run 20 miles a week - definitely less than 3 hours.

    1. Oh I have no idea how many miles that equals! Knowing me probably not that many! You would never be bored running with me! I hear I'm pretty crazy!

  2. I love this post!! I cracked up. I love the New Girl gifs. That show is hilarious. (: I don't know what I think about when I run... Sometimes I plan my future wedding, sometimes I just focus on my form and breathing. Then I get obsessed with thinking about breathing and it feels weird. I think strange things when I run..

    1. I sometimes do the same thing! I start kind of pinteresting in my head. Oh man and when I start thinking about breathing my breathing gets really weird! I have to try and think about something else or I get super out of breath!

  3. Hahaha oh my goodness I love this! Usually I run solo and end up thinking about random things or getting one verse from a song stuck in my head (i.e. if its the song "Be a man" from Mulan, for about an hour I keep thinking "LETS GET DOWN TO BUISNESS...To DEFEAT...THE HUUUNNNNNSSSSSSS") hahaha. When I run with people Im pretty sure I annoy them with my talking until I start running out of breath...

    1. I DO THE SAME THING! Okay, this is super embarrassing, but during my first xc meet I had the song 'Whatever You Like' by TI stuck in my head. It's such a horrible song, and I really don't listen to it, but the whole run I just kept singing the lyrics. Also, the other day I was singing Selena Gomez and I didn't even realize it? Maybe I shouldn't open my mouth when running. It would save my a lot of humiliation and people wouldn't get annoyed! But hey, if someone started singing Mulan while running I would prob want to be their best friend! That song is amazing!

  4. I'm impressed you can even talk on your run at all! I listen to music and run alone but if I ran with someone there is minimal chance I could talk throughout it :)

This was such a funny post! The take a bow picture has made me want to rewatch The Truman Show :)

    1. Talking really makes the time fly by to my and distracts me so maybe that's why I do it! And YES some of those pictures were making me want to rewatch some old shows!

  5. Haha love this, thanks for my first laugh this morning :) I always think of random things during my runs, but it usually ends with "What am I going to eat for breakfast?" :)

    1. Same! At the beginning of my run I don't want to think about food at all, but by the end it's all that's on my mind! I always end up with oatmeal or a smoothie though, so I'm not sure why I make such a big deal out of it!

  6. Hahaha I love this, Katherine, you're too funny! Something tells me we would be great running buddies. ;) One of my quotes: [through huffs and puffs] "I'm really feeling it, I think I'm too old for this. Oh wait I'm 18. If that's too old then my future is hopeless." And I totally see number 4... babies seriously have such an easy life. :P

    1. I've probably said something super similar before. I always end up telling it to my dad or someone who has way more reasons to quit than I do that I'm not feeling the run today or that I'm having a hard time. Then I remember my age and am like woopsss! But yes, we would be amazing buddies! As long as you don't mind having your ear talked off, then it would work! :)

  11. Ha! You're lucky you can talk while you run. I have to focus on not dying during any part of my runs! When I jog in a busy neighborhood, I do a lot of talking in my head though!

    1. I think it's my way of 'coping'! If I don't talk I think about how long the run is and when I can stop and get really tired. It's really weird! Sometimes I'm quiet though and just think! That's always good!

  12. Bahaha. I personally love the first one, so random!
I was still in bed when I was a teenager, haha! I was the queen of oversleeping.
I agree with Tara, you're lucky you can talk the entire time you run. I'm gasping for air the entire time.

  13. Haha you're hillarious. I'm the same way- I much prefer chatting every second during my runs. I like the one about saying hi to your mom's friends and the one about food. Whenever my roommate and I go running, 80% of our convo is about food!

I don't run outside because somehow I ALWAYS end up with some creepy old man staring me down or several cars honking at me and scaring the daylights out of me. Im like "hey, my headphones are in, don't freakin blare your horn at me to tell me you think Im hot. Im gunna trip and fall on my face!!"

  16. HAHAHHAHA these are all amazing :) and the images are all hilarious too omg i laughed so hard at this entire post! i always do the awkward wave thing- usually im not even positive if its the person i think it is, i just wave and hope for the best :)

  18. Hahaha I love this!! I ALWAYS think about what my next meal is going to be while I am running. I am usually planning my shopping list and what I need to get ready to make something EPIC!! Half the time I just come home and slam down a PB&J though. I also feel the need to bow once I complete a difficult run!
