Tuesday Thoughts.

Tuesday, September 10, 2013

There's been a lot on my mind lately. There seems to be no rhyme or reason to any of my thoughts, meaning that I had no idea how to combine them all into a cohesive blog post.

After visiting the lovely Amanda from Running with Spoons, and reading her 'Thinking Out Loud' posts, I decided jumbling all of my random thoughts into one post made perfect sense.

1. My cousin got married in Colorado last Saturday.

I'd never really considered a mountainy/outdoorsy wedding, but that breathtaking view may have changed my mind. Isn't my cousin gorgeous? I'm SO happy for her and her new husband!

2.  Harrison (my brother) left for his sophomore year in college.

The phrase 'You don't know what you've got until it's gone' is really cliche, but that's how I've been feeling lately. The house is feeling empty without my weird sidekick around. I can drive, so I don't need Harrison for free rides or anything, but I miss loud car jams, long walks where we talked about nothing, and him handing my butt to me in driveway basketball games.

3. It's been really rainy in Texas lately.

We've been in a drought as long as I can remember, so rainy weather makes me want to curl up in a big blanket and stay in bed all day and celebrate. So, I did. Sometimes being lazy is a wonderful feeling.

4. I finally tried Arctic Zero ice cream.

The whole pint is only 150 calories, and it has peanut butter in it. If you were looking for a miracle, this is it. I tried to eat the whole pint in one sitting just because I could (Katherine logic there), but clearly I don't always make the best choices in life. I only got 1/4 of the way through before I had a brain freeze and a full tummy. I should've listened to the Myth Busters when they said, 'Don't try this at home.'

5. While I am still the Peanut Butter Lover, avocados have stolen my healthy fat loving heart.

It was rainy and cool on Saturday night, so my dad and I decided to stay in and make a batch of my tortilla soup topped with lots of avocado. We ended up watching Pitch Perfect and eating way too much bowlfuls of avocado and soup. It was the perfect night.

6. Do you ever see a quote that just revolutionizes the way you look at something?

true.

Well I found 2 quotes this week that did just that for me. Call me a typical girl, but when I saw these quotes on Pinterest, I fell in love with them. If you're one of those people that thinks Pinterest is just a waste of time, I'm begging you to reevaluate. Pinterest is thebomb.com.

7. Fall, fall, and fall has been on my mind.

I know I've already proven my obsession with Fall by bringing it up whenever it's relevant (or irrelevant for that matter), but I'm smitten. I mean seriously, if you want to quit school this fall and spend all day baking with pumpkin and cinnamon, I wouldn't object.

8. Last but not least, how is it only Tuesday?

Mindless Dreaming

I don't want time speeding by or anything, but has anyone else's weeks been moving at a turtle's pace? The quote, 'Days are long, but life is short,' perfectly describes my life right now. If only I could use all of this 'extra' time for something besides AP History homework...

Your cousins wedding looks like it was beautiful. That picture alone is enough to make my heart melt! And I love Artic Zero simply because it allows me to get nuts with the toppings. I add melted peanut butter and dark chocolate chips a lot to it to spice it up a notch ;)

  9. Aw, I love that you're so close with your brother! And, of course, that he's an Aggie. Whoop!

You're so cute cuddled up in your blanket. I can't wait for the weather to get cooler here.

Holy guacamole! That's a lot of avocados. Eating a ton of those and tortilla soup while watching a movie does sound like perfection!

    1. Gotta love those aggies! The weather finally stopped being bipolar here and warmed up again, so no more blanket cuddling for a while! And I highly recommend a soup night! If you eat good bread and tons of fruit on the side, your day is almost perfect. Pinky promise.

  10. I would love to skip school and just laze around enjoying the weather and baking! Ha.
Those avocados look amazing- I wish I could have that many perfect looking ones all at once! And now I need to make some of that tortilla soup :)
My random thought is that I am no batter at battling procrastination at 31 than I was at 13. I still put schoolwork and studying off until the last possible second, just to ensure that I am as stressed out as possible. Urg!

    1. Your first sentence is my life in a nutshell! I have the worst luck with picking out good avocados, so I feel you! Procrastination is the worst. Lately I've even been procrastinating on blogging, which I enjoy doing! Hopefully I'll get better with age too, but right now there is no foreseeable end! :)

  15. Did you get to go to Colorado to see the wedding?! I kind of hope not because I would hate to have missed you coming to my home state while I was off at college haha :)
I totally know what you mean about your brother. I felt the exact way when he left for college his first year - so lonely :( I promise things will get easier though! I don't know how it happened, but we have ended up at the same college which is awesome! Luckily you had all the Arctic Zero (my favorite flavor is the mint chocolate - yuuuummmmy!) and avocados to comfort you. ;) I need to get more avocados! They're seriously one of my all time favorite foods. I guess I could always just come over to your house to get my fill of them. ;)
Oh did you get the e-mail I sent you? It's totally fine if you haven't had a chance to answer yet, I've just had email issues and wanted to make sure people are actually getting my emails. :)

    2. I had to stay home because of school and cross country, but I wish I could've gone! That's so crazy that you ended up at the same university! My brother wants me to go to his college with him too, so who knows! My Walmart only has Maple Vanilla and Chocolate Peanut Butter Arctic Zero, so I'm so jealous! Mint chocolate chip anything is my fav, so I'll have to keep an eye out for that. My blog email has been weird lately, so I get messages like a week after they've been sent, so I just received your email today! It sounds like you're not the only one with email issues!

  20. Oh, I definitely have times when there is no other form for a post other than a list! We have so much going on in our lives that it can be impossible to "transition" from one topic to another :P

OH MY GOD AVOCADOS, I don't know if I've ever seen so many beautiful avos in one place before. I'm on my way over!

Mr. Rogers is probably the best human who ever lived, although, we're both Pittsburghers so maybe I'm biased ;) After the Boston Marathon bombings, I saw this quote circulating a lot: "“When I was a boy and I would see scary things in the news, my mother would say to me, "Look for the helpers. You will always find people who are helping.”

    1. I'm so so glad someone else has the same problem as me! There's too much going on for easy one topic blog posts. I love Mr. Rogers! I remember watching him on tv when I was little, so I would have to agree even if you think you're biased! He's so so great! :)
