1. It's still not cold in South Texas. While I ordinarily would be complaining about our lack of Fall weather, being able to have smoothies outside in the morning is something not many people can do right now. Since I'm a firm believer in the quote 'A smoothie a day keeps the doctor away', maybe it's a good thing it doesn't get very cold here.

2. Have you ever had a week where TGIF didn't quite fully encompass how truly happy you were about the week coming to a close? Never fear. I think my mom has now become an icon of how most of us feel when the weekend is quickly approaching.

3. Early morning rainbows make me happy. It's a fact. The other morning we had a double rainbow outside. The picture hardly captures how amazing it looked. Rainbows are seriously one of the coolest things nature has to offer. If I could high five nature for creating rainbows, I would.

4. Cross Country season has officially ended. Our last race was muddy and humid, but it was still lots of fun. After the race, we piled all our muddy legs onto the bus and proceeded to sing karaoke the whole ride back to school.

5. For my 17th birthday I went out to dinner with a few friends. I had explicitly told them not to mention that it was my birthday to the waiter, but clearly they weren't in the mood to listen.

A birthday cake and restaurant wide serenading complete with a sombrero later, I was thoroughly embarrassed. My mom pointed out that my Grandma had the exact same thing happen to her on her birthday. I suppose the apple really doesn't fall far from the tree.

6. If you ever find a pair of jeans that are size 50 waist, you have to try them on. Fact. I volunteered at a local homeless shelter last weekend and helped them clean up their little thrift shop. When I organized the jeans by sizes and discovered some jeans that could fit 2 Katherine's in them, I just had to try them on. That's normal, right?

7. I spent this past week at countless wedding dress shops searching for the perfect Cotillion dress. Who knew that dress shopping was this overwhelming. The looks I got from other women shopping at the stores were priceless though. They couldn't seem to figure out why a 17 year was getting married!

8. Sometimes you need to get in your car and drive 7 hours to visit your brother on impulse. My family took a spontaneous road trip to visit my collegiate brother at Texas A&M. We decided to document our visit by taking a Christmas card worthy family portrait. (See where I get my weird facial expressions from?)

What's your phone background?

It took a really pretty picture to convince me to change my background frmo young Leo DiCaprio to this new picture. So, my background is currently this polka dot watercolor painting. I've gotten really into patterns lately (even going so far as to create a Pinterest board dedicated to patterns), so this fit the obsession.

Did you watch/read anything about the Royal Christening?

As if I needed another reason to love the royal family any more, the Royal Christening was so adorable. I think it's safe to say that Prince George is one of the cutest babies out there. Now I'm forced to live in the constant struggle of being too young for Prince Harry and too old for Prince George.

Let's talk Halloween. Are you dressing up? Are you handing out candy?

I haven't decided what I'm going to be yet, but I'm definitely dressing up. I'm also planning on giving out lots of candy! Something about a day where accepting candy from strangers whilst dressed up as something ridiculous is so strange yet intriguing to me. I'm in!

I can't even begin to imagine how it is for an actual wedding! I'm apparently dressing up for Halloween, but I might have put it off until about right now! Ah I need to get on it!

  12. Happy 17th :)!
It's just now starting to cool down in Cali, but unlike so many others who just want fall to arrive, I'm trying to hold on to the sunny days and warm weather. I am not the biggest fan of the cold :P.

Although I do find myself having more cold foods (smoothies, ice cream, etc.) in the winter :/??

    1. Thanks P! I totally feel you on holding on to summer. I love and hate the cold at the same time. And yes! December is the only month that I ever crave ice cream during!

  13. This might be a dumb question, but what's Cotillion? It looks like you've been up to a lot of fun things recently, and I'm jealous of your ability to still have smoothies (it's waaaayyy to cold for that here!)

    1. Cotillion is actually really weird. It's like your debutante ball where you are presented to society. The whole concept is odd, but I'm all for wearing a wedding dress and not actually getting married!

  14. Haha, that looks like a BEFORE/AFTER picture for a weight loss commercial.

Your old background was DiCaprio? Why did I never think of that? Lol. Mine is a Minion from Despicable Me :)

  16. Did I miss your birthday?? Happy late birthday!!! I had a white dress for a debutante ball I was supposed to attend in Australia back in high school and it was fun shopping for white dresses at 16 :) Haha I laughed out loud at the too young for Harry too old for George quip! Have a great week!

  18. There is no way your Mom could ever disown you. You two look so much alike. Do you get that often? Besides the fact that I find it hilarious about the size 50 jeans, I think it's so wonderful that you volunteered at the homeless shelter. I can't recall many 17 year olds in my town who did that. Good for you girl <3

    1. Everyone tells us that! If you see her next to my brother, you'd think they look like twins though! Apparently I look more like my dad because we have the same body shape and blue eyes! It was SO much fun volunteering. The huge jeans made it that much better! It's a lovely feeling to help others out!
