Ten Ways To Take Care Of Yoself.

I'm pretty sure that when I'm not terribly busy doing sports, school, work, blogging, exercising, etc, I'm complaining about being so busy.

Hopefully I'm not the only one. We've all been there, right? Feeling overwhelmed is nothing new in high school (and college and adult life in general). So, here's a little list of how to take care of yourself when the times get rough!

This what I did today to de-stress! Books and green smoothies are the bomb.
1. Ask for help.

I'm the worst at this. I'm always hesitant to ask someone else for help because I'm very stubborn, but when you're up to your neck in stress/things to do, there's always someone willing to help.

2. Get enough zzz's

As a teenager I'm used to having the idea of 'get more sleep' knocked into me daily. It might be the most overused phrase in high school, but it's seriously golden advice. My first instinct when I'm busy is always to put sleep on the back burner in order to maximize my time. Good idea? Negative. Now I'm busy, stressed, AND tired.

3. Turn on your favorite music.

Have to clean the house? Need to go for a run? Have to finish homework? Music always boosts my mood, and can even make things like dusting the house seem doable. (I know, it's revolutionary.)

4. Go for a run (or whatever exercise you prefer).

Getting your sweat on can help clear your mind and give you a chance to prioritize. Plus you get your workout out of the way. Killing two birds with one stone!

5. Take breaks.

Even if you have the most important final of your life tomorrow, studying all day won't help. Take a 5 minute break to stretch or just breathe.

6. Make a To-Do list.

Having everything you need to do written on paper can help your prioritize and have the satisfaction of checking off each task once finished. (It feels really good, I promise)

7. Have a cuppa.

I get it now, Brits. Tea is great. Tea solves problems. Tea could solve world peace, and it definitely can help relax you. Sorry for ever doubting.

8. Take a bath.

If you haven't relaxed in a bath in a long time, you're missing out. Whether it's for 5 minutes or an hour, a hot bath is a tiny slice of paradise.

9. Eat healthy.

Because let's face it, we're too busy to get sick.

10. Do your least favorite tasks first.

Remember when you were little and you had to eat your veggies before dessert? This is the same concept. Save the more fun tasks for last!

11. (Bonus) Have a spoonful of your favorite nut butter. 10/10 studies show this really helps.

Err...everything you read on the internet is 100% true, righttt?

I hope none of you are so stressed that you need these tips, but if you do, go seize the day!

  1. These are lovely tips!! I agree with every single one. I am super stubborn too so I hate asking for help! Okay that picture on top is so good. WHAT camera do you use?! I'm going to buy one but I'm bugging everyone about theirs first lol!

    1. That picture was taken by my iphone! Usually I use a Canon, but lately I've been searching for a new camera too! I'm thinking another Canon or Nikon! It's SO hard. All the cameras seem so great!
