I Was Productive During Spring Break (The Quest For Bananas!)

Saturday, April 19, 2014

This is the face of a very happy girl on Spring Break. (Wearing her Texas A&M shirt, shoutout to my brother!)

Love it!!So why am I so happy? Well, duh, there's no school during Spring Break.

But, that's not the only reason. You see, during Spring Break, waking up every morning is the best feeling ever. When you wake up, you realize that you literally have nothing you have to do. You can lay in bed for hours, go for a run, bake all morning, basically you can do whatever you want.

The prospect of doing nothing at all or everything at once is so exciting. Actually, exciting would be an understatement.

Laying in bed, cleaning your room, and hanging out with friends during a relaxing Spring Break is all fun and games. That is, fun and games until you run out of bananas. Then you're in serious trouble.

If you haven't caught on, this is what happened to me.

My dad and mom took off work on Wednesday, so we hopped in the car and drove to the Farmer's Market. Because clearly, our lack of bananas was a plaguing issue.

The only flaw in our seemingly flawless quest to buy bananas was that we weren't expecting all the other fruit to look so enticing.

I mean how can you buy only bananas when you can buy tomatoes, mangoes, watermelon, avocados, and every other fruit/veggies for only a few bucks more?

The answer to that last question is you can't.

Avocados are arguably one of my favorite things to eat, so I adopted a mantra of 'No avocado left behind' at the Farmer's Market. (If you're unfamiliar with this mantra seeing as I just made it up, it basically means you buy tons of avocados! :) )

Anyways, after we got home from a long day of shopping, there was only one thing left to do (that is, besides refrigerate all the avocados, mangoes, melons, etc that we bought and eat them) : Freeze all those bananas I just bought for smoothies!

Because bananas were the whole point we went on this little mission.

Anyways, I guess you could say that my Spring Break has been a raging success in the fruit.

Here in Texas, we don't play no games when it comes to getting our bananas (or any other fruit for that matter!).

I hope you have a lovely Easter weekend! Any plans?

  1. Mhmm yes, yes, YES to bananas! So good :). My favorite way to eat them is definitely caramelized in oatmeal of with chunky peanut butter! I don't usually make too many smoothies since they never keep me full. And spring break=the best. Mine was a few weeks ago, so I'm back to the grind. Argh. So jealous of you right now haha! Enjoy yourself!

I'm going into fruit-induced meltdown, be right back....

Okay now that I'm over my jealousy I can speak in a normal manner. I totally agree with everything you said about Spring Break - I love knowing that I have no plans! I'm definitely a lazy morning kinda gal. In fact, I have NO plans for Easter (except the Easter Bunny and church, of course).

    Have an amazingtastical day!!!
