Hi, my name is Katherine, and two weeks into my senior year of high school, I live at school. I'd like to say I'm joking, but I'm not even close to exaggerating. I've been spending around 15 hours at school each day, so time for anything besides work and sleep has been nonexistent.

No worries, this post is not a sob story. This is just a little recap of what I was doing when I essentially disappeared from the internet completely.

1. My mom turned a year older. Isn't it crazy that I'm almost 18, and she just turned 25? I'm still not sure how it's possible, but it's so much fun having a mom that's basically a sister! Okay, on a serious note, it was my mom's birthday, and she's probably the cutest Birthday Queen I've ever seen. I'm so incredibly blessed to have a role model and best friend like my mom.

2. I kinda sorta had a photoshoot with my cat. Because when you're terribly busy and only spending around 9 hours a day at home (and sleeping during at least 7 of those), taking pictures of your cats is totally a priority.

3. I've been mourning summer 2k14. Whenever you're feeling really down about being back in school, looking at pictures of all the fun things you did during the summer like vacationing, eating, sleeping, and just relaxing makes you feel 100x worse. But I do it anyways. It's nice to remember the beautiful days of summer when getting 15 hours of sleep was the norm.

4. I've been watching sunsets. Since it's my last year living with my parents at home and being in high school, I've been really trying to be intentional each day. I'm not taking anything for granted. I wake up every morning grateful. Watching sunsets helps keep things in perspective this busy year and reminds me of how blessed I am; lack of sleep and all.

5. I found a tree that looks like it has a huge pineapple on top of it. It's actually a Palm Tree, but my dad said that it looked like a huge pineapple, and now I can't look at the tree the same way. You know you love fruit when you start seeing it everywhere.

7. I've been running. It's cross country season, and I've been running religiously at 6 every morning.  I have a love/hate relationship with morning practices. The hardest part of practices is waking up at 5:30, but I've never regretted running once this year. There's not much better than running as the sunrises with your friends.

8. I've been college-essaying. The first day of school it hit me that I would be going to college in less than a year, so I've stepped up my game. So far I'm applying to Texas A&M, University of Texas at Austin, Appalachian State University, and Boston College. I'm still sifting through like 50 other schools, so there's more to come. (And if you have any recommendations, please let me know!)

I hope everyone has a great weekend full of good food, restful sleeps, long runs, fun conversations, lots of adventures, and a little bit of productivity. It's Friday, go bananas! :)

Best of luck with your cross country season and college apps! I know it's daunting but really you just need to make sure you find a good fit for you. Find a place that will challenge you but you also can see yourself being happy at--not what your parents or friends think will make you happy! Just my two cents :)
