Chasing Waterfalls // Turner Falls Oklahoma

Monday, April 27, 2015

My mom always has really vivid dreams. She's one of those people who can wake up and recall almost everything she dreamed the night before.

One of her scariest/favorite dreams to talk about involves a waterfall that goes over the road she's driving on. I always thought this was such a weird dream. A waterfall going over the road? Nope, not happening.

Oklahoma proved me wrong.

Once you get passed the whole nightmare becoming a reality thing, Oklahoma has way more to offer than creepy waterfall/road combos. Like Turner Falls.

Besides the fact that these falls are absolutely stunning, they don't cross any major roads, so that's a bonus.

You could swim in the falls, but I unfortunately didn't think to bring a swim suit, so I settled for nearly falling in fully clothed.

Even though it's April, the water was freezing. I assumed no one would try to swim, but I was informed that it was a rather "hot" day for Oklahoma residents. Texas has apparently ruined me and my perception of heat.

Right next to the falls were some hiking trails, so we decided to take a walk instead of risking our reputations just to swim in a waterfall.

We found a staircase up the side of the mountains, so we decided to see where it went. Somehow we ended up looking down at the waterfalls. I felt so small as I looked down, but feeling insignificant is a really humbling/nice feeling.

Does anyone know what you go to college for to spend your life chasing waterfalls? Cause that's what I want to do.
